Context and objectives

Since its early beginnings, sports have always been a source of political, economical and social tensions. That’s why Sport diplomacy has become a source of identity affirmation, and international recognition. Indeed, Sport diplomacy contributes to a country’s image as well as to its economics, employment and attractivity.

Also, Sports diplomacy contribute to reinforce international relations between countries. It brings conflicting nations closer, and enables leadership affirmation. Through sport diplomacy, nations can spread their values.

The institute of sport careers Kenitra (IMSK) aims to bring together the finest academics for presenting, and discussing the latest findings in sport diplomacy.  The goal of this conference will be to create a bridge between academics, and professionals related to the field of sport diplomacy.

The conference will treat the issue of sport diplomacy as a new hard power.  Sport enables competition, and to spread universal values. By bringing people closer, sports represent an unconventional space of tolerance.

The three main topics represent the main implications of sport diplomacy. The first orientation deals with the relationship between sport and diplomacy as a national interest promotion tool. The second topic deals with the relation between sports and the improvement of diplomatic relations. The third topic is more sociological since it deals with sport as social bond factor, and a value promotor.
